Commodities on the wholesale markets fluctuated both ways in line with global trend during the week ended on November 5, 2011. On Monday scarcely any fluctuation in prices on the wholesale commodity markets was witnessed. However, rice Irri 6 Sindh low type gained Rs 50 to Rs 3050, while better type was put at previous level of Rs 3100. Cottonseed oilcakes with bag Sindh low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 1000, while the other variety shed Rs 15 to Rs 1060.
On Jodia Bazaar Jute goods (per kg) twine 20x3 brown ended lower by Rs 2 to Rs 96, 16x3 CRT/Indus shed by Rs 2 to Rs 96, 8x3 ended down by Rs 5 to Rs 140 and 40x2 brown shed Re 1 to Rs 92, Hessian Cloth (per 91.41 meter) 45x10 Amin lost Rs 100 to Rs 3100, 45x11 gave away Rs 100 to Rs 3200, 50x9 Thul lost Rs 106 to Rs 2900, 45x9 shed Rs 100 to Rs 2900, low type rose by Rs 200 to Rs 5200, while 50x8 Thul quoted at Rs 2650 and 45x8 down by Rs 100 to Rs 2650.
On Tuesday Guar Sindh and Punjab fell by Rs 100 to Rs 6700 and Rs 6800, grams 50x50 lost Rs 100 to Rs 5200 and Rs 5400, yellow peas Canada shed Rs 50 to Rs 3900 and Rs 4100, yellow peas dal shed Rs 50 to Rs 4300 and Rs 4550, yellow peas Ukraine lost Rs 50 to Rs 3700 and Rs 3900, yellow peas dal Ukraine lost same amount to Rs 4200 and Rs 4400, bajra low type lost Rs 100 to Rs 2300, while better type shed Rs 200 to Rs 2600, cottonseed oilcakes Sindh low type put at Rs 1000, while other type shed Rs 10 to Rs 1050.
On Wednesday slow business was seen due to transport problems. Irri-6 Sindh low type retained its overnight level at Rs 3050, while the best quality was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 3100 due to slight increase in demand. Til low type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3450, while the good quality was unchanged at Rs 3600, cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type was inert at Rs 1000, while the best quality was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 1100.
On Thursday gur low type rose by Rs 200 to Rs 5200, while the other type shed Rs 500 to Rs 6000. On Friday no variation was seen as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.
On Saturday modest business was seen on the ahead of long weekend due to Eid holidays. Grams Australia No 1 lost Rs 50 to Rs 4600-4800, grams Australian No 1 dal also fell by Rs 100 to Rs 5700-5900, bajra, however, low type managed to gain Rs 100 to Rs 2400, and best type was higher by Rs 200 to Rs 2800 due to strong demand. Irri-6 Sindh low type gained Rs 50 to Rs 3100 and best type posted little rise of Rs 25 to Rs 3175. Only one change was seen on the seed side, cottonseed oilcake with bag low type shed Rs 100 to Rs 900 due to increasing supply while the good type was unchanged at Rs 1100. Prices retained the overnight levels on the cereals side.
