All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) has lauded Sindh Rangers for making efforts to restore peace in the city, brining rising trend of targeted killings down and providing relief to the Karachiites. Talking to Business Recorder on Saturday, the chairman AKTI said Rangers had played a vital role in scaling down the trend of targeted killing, which had badly hit economic activities in the city.
However, he criticised the Police Department for not controlling street crimes. "Police has failed to deal with criminals," he said. He gave appreciated Pakistan army and Sindh Rangers for brining normality to the city which suffered unrest for a long time, saying it was remarkable and professional performance of the country's pivotal security institutions. "Army Chief, General Ashfaq Kayani fulfilled his pledge made with Karachi's traders during a meeting with traders to restore peace and harmony in the city," he said.
He said traders would also hold a reception in honour of DG Rangers Sindh, Major General Ijaz Chaudhry after Eid-ul-Azha for his great contribution to bring peace in the city. "Traders will present honorary shield to DG Rangers for his unprecedented services to the city's people and businessmen," he added.
Atiq Mir said Rangers had done what many had believed as impossible to clamp down on targeted killings. He said helpline established the Rangers at its headquarter had greatly boosted the traders confidence. The helpline also helped establish contacts to a better interaction between traders and Rangers.
