Health Education Programme has been launched in the partner schools of the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) to sensitise the students about the principles of general healthcare so that healthy youth could come out.
According to the spokesperson of the foundation this was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Muhammad Anwar, while addressing the medical aid boxes' distribution ceremony In Burewalla on Friday. The medical aid boxes were provided by the Mukhtar Sharif Welfare Trust for the partner schools.
Addressing the ceremony, Raja Anwar said that 460 PEF partner schools have been given the medical aid boxes in the first phase. This programme will help to save the students from different diseases including the menace of Dengue, he said. He appreciated the philanthropic spirit of Mukhtar Sharif Welfare Trust for providing medical aid boxes to the PEF partner schools and said that this spirit of philanthropy is a great social asset. He appealed to the corporate sector to come forward to support the cause of education so that no one could be deprived of it. This will give them trained human resource to run the trade and industrial sector, he maintained.
While discussing the issue of computerised paper marking system in the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Punjab, he maintained that this computerised system is being improved to serve the purpose efficiently in future, adding that the whole world is turning to IT for improving governance structure by introducing holistic reforms in every sphere. Giving a detail of the introduction of IT in Boards' examination system, he said that this has helped in reducing the total number of examination centers in the province. As a result of IT Technology, a total of 200 centers in Lahore, 150 in Faisalabad and 100 in Rawalpindi Boards were reduced besides helping the students to appear in centers near to their homes. Punjab Education Foundation has successfully used computerised OMR Technology for the conduction of biannual held Quality Assurance Test, he maintained.
The function was also addressed by the Chairman of Mukhtar Sharif Welfare Trust Riasat Ali Bhatti and others. Earlier, PEF Chairman, Raja Anwar, visited various PEF partner schools in Burewalla and enquired about the quality of education from the students and the teachers. He asked the school Principals to benefit from the soft loans scheme introduced by the Punjab Education Foundation for setting up science labs and the introduction of computer education and to improve the standard of education according to the requirement of the job market.
