Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) newly elected Punjab chapter vice president Imrana Baloch has said that the bar's president Yasin Azad would not be allowed to follow agenda of any political party. Baloch flanked by SCBA executive committee members from Lahore, claimed at a press conference held here on Tuesday that her group, the professional group, won 14 out of a total of 22 seats of the bar cabinet in the recent elections for 2011-12.
Disassociating herself from alleged political agenda of President Yasin Azad, she said all he expressed at the Monday's press conference could be his personal views but the bar had no political motives. She said opinion of majority will prevail in the bar and nobody would be allowed to misuse the platform.
The vice president maintained that elected office bearers belonged to professional group would not let the bar to become a tool of any political party and no anti-judiciary move would be allowed. Among the executive committee members Muhammad Ayub and Amir Sohail also spoke on the occasion and endorsed the stance taken by the vice president. Former SCBA secretary Zulfiqar Bokhari, Punjab bar council member Ghazala Khan and Muhammad Azhar Siddique also joined them.
