World Health Organisation (WHO) has acknowledged the Punjab government efforts aimed at eradication of dengue in the province. Sources in the health department said on Monday that Dr Margaret of World Health Organization in a conference held in Cairo on October 2 praised the Punjab government efforts to eliminate dengue.
Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital Professor Tariq Salahuddin said that around 153 new employees including 103 nurses and 50 sanitary workers recently joined Lahore General Hospital. "Not only additional staff was deputed at hospitals but dengue patients are also being provided free treatment," he said.
Moreover, Chairman Dengue Control Committee Nishter Town, Naseer Bhutta MNA has said that fogging process in Nishter Town has been completed. He asked the Town administration to send three spray teams, regularly, consist on IRS, fogging spray and larviciding collectively. He directed to continue the efforts to remove debris and wastage from UCs located in rural areas.
He expressed these views by presiding over the town administration meeting attended by TMO, officials of local bodies and others. MNA Naseer Bhutta said that early recovery of dengue patients was the top priority of the Punjab government. He said that every person of the society has to play its due role in the elimination of dengue virus as the Punjab government was using its all resources for this purpose. He said that Punjab Chief Minister's 'Qadam Barho-Dengue Mukao' campaign was successful in the province in which students, youth and party workers played active role.
