'NH&MP present itself as a role model'

National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) has presented itself as a role model and other departments should emulate it, said the out-going Inspector General (IG) Zafarullah Khan. While addressing a farewell party arranged by the NH&MP officers and staff on his retirement here on Monday, IG said that motorway police was the only department of the country, which could be compared with any police department of the world.
He further said that important decision had been taken in a short span of time to improve the infrastructure of NH&MP. "The dedication shown by the NH&MP has full depth in spite of so many obstacles and bottlenecks," said IG, adding that the Motorway Police presented itself the service-oriented and people friendly. He said that hundreds of run-away/kidnapped and lost children were recovered and were handed over to their parents, besides recovering stolen/ snatched vehicles.
He lauded the services of all officers and staff for their wholehearted support during his tenure. DIG Fateh Sher Joya presented a souvenir to the out-going IGP and presented guard of honour. DIGs Dr Muhammad Shafiq, Abbas Hussain Malik, Shahid Yar Khan, Fateh Sher Joya AIG (O&D) Farooq Azam, AIG (G) Muhammad Ali Babakhel, AIG (E) Ashfaq Ahmed and other senior officers and staff were also present on the occasion.
