Four more deaths were reported due to dengue during the last 24 hours raising the death toll to 285 in Punjab and 250 in Lahore. Director General Health Punjab Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry at media briefing regarding dengue at the committee room of King Edward Medical University, on Thursday said on the direction of the Chief Minister of Punjab, after setting up bloodline in the province, the registration of volunteer blood donors has been started at divisional level and 10 registration camps have been set up at different places.
Moreover, Institute of Blood Transfusion has established two camps at Police Training Centre Manawan and Chung for this purpose. DG Health said that blood line has been established on permanent basis to provide blood to the needy patients and wounded persons in case of any epidemic, natural calamity and accidents. He said that the Punjab Institute of Blood Transfusion would maintain complete record with contract numbers of volunteer donors and in case of any necessity, blood banks and individuals could get help from PIBT.
DG Health further informed that one-day awareness and training workshop for homeopaths and hakeems would be organised on Saturday (tomorrow) at Town Hall, Lahore. He further disclosed that Sri Lankan experts have so far imparted training to 472 doctors, nurses and 76 spray-men and CDC supervisors. He said that private hospitals have been bound to provide data regarding dengue patients and deaths to the Health Department under Dengue Control Regulations 2011.
