The legislatures of the Balochistan Assembly in Tuesday session unanimously passed resolution paying rich tributes to late Begum Nusrat Bhutto for her services for the cause of democracy. The assembly session started with Deputy Speaker Syed Matiullah Agha in chair about 40 minutes behind its schedule.
The lawmakers including Minister for Communication and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Ali Madad Jatak, Minister for Quality Education and PPP leader Jan Ali Changezi, Minister for Revenue and Awami National Party (ANP) leader Eng. Zamarak Khan Piralizai, and other ministers-Jay Parkash, Zahoor Buledi and Shahwaz Marri and others moved the condolence resolution, which paid rich tributes to the late Begum Nusrat Bhutto, the wife of the founder of the PPP and former prime minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Delivering his speech, Jatak recalled that it was Begum Bhutto who suffered physical and mentally torture and rendered great sacrifices for the country and democracy. Changezi said the role of Begum Bhutto for rights of people was a great pride for women across the world. Piralizai said it was Begum Bhutto who played vital role in formation of MRD to unite all political parties at a single platform to fight dictator-led government. He recalled that Begum Bhutto sustained serious injuries when she faced baton charge at her by police in Qazafi Stadium Lahore.
Parkash said that Begum Bhutto was a great personality who ran a struggle for her country, democracy and rights of her people. Referring to law and order situation in Balochistan, he said that people from minorities were being abducted for ransom and no security and protection was being provided to minorities in the province. Buledi said that Begum Bhutto had suffered grief and pain for many years after what he said 'judicial murder' of her husband Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
