Represent-atives of civil society, the business community and political leaders have expressed their deepest condolence on the demise of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's widow Begum Nusrat Bhutto who passed away in Dubai on Sunday at the age of 82.
Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has been deprived of a towering leader who courageously steered the party after the martyrdom of Shaheed Zulfikar Bhutto during Gen. Zia-ul-Haq's dictatorship.
"It is a great shock for the workers of PPP because being mother of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, she was the mother of all of us," he added. He said even though late Begum Bhutto was not keeping a good health of late, still she was an inspiration for the workers and leaders of the Party.
MNA Ms Shagufta Jumani said late Begum Bhutto was like a mother to her and that she learned a lot from her charismatic and courageous leadership. "As a woman wing worker of the Party whose struggle in politics started when late Begum Bhutto took the helm of the party leadership, I feel particularly moved by her demise," she added. Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) and Sindh High Court Bar Council Hyderabad chapter's President Additional Advocate General Allah Bachayo Soomro also expressed condolence over the demise of Begum Nusrat Bhutto and expressed solidarity with the members of her family, leaders and workers of the party.
PPP's veteran political worker Amanullah Siyal, who is also the Acting President of PPP Hyderabad, recalled how during the dictatorship of Gen. Zia-ul-Haq she infused the party men with courage and motivation to withstand the brutalities of that regime.
