The development of Thar Coal is high on the agenda of the present people's government pursuing the vision of our great leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. It is the utmost desire of the present government to see the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma coming true during the current tenure and to live up to the expectation and trust that the masses have placed on us.
The Government of Sindh has completed significant work on institutional and regulatory framework for investors' facilitation through transparent process-of international competitive bidding and evaluation for awarding mining concessions in Thar Coalfield. This has resulted in attracting increasing number of genuine and renowned investors from different parts of the world.
There have been consistent efforts to plan and finance all the components of the infrastructure for Thar Coalfield. The joint forum of the federal and provincial governments in the form of Thar Coal & Energy Board is playing a very effective role in synergizing the resources of both the Governments. Under the dynamic leadership of the President Asif Ali Zardari and the support from Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, the dream of Sindh becoming the Powerhouse of the Region will soon come true. I appreciate the efforts of Thar Coal & Energy Board, Coal and Energy Development Department and Sindh Board of Investment in organising a much needed conference to highlight the potentional and remove misconceptions about Thar Coal.
