Message from Governor Sindh

Published Updated

It is gratifying to observe that remarkable progress has been made in the coal exploration and coal mining projects. By holding such an important conference on theme of the future prospects of investment in coal to power projects, a new impetus would be injected in the development of Thar Coal.
Government of Sindh has taken up this project on priority basis keeping in view the energy crisis being faced by our country. When we look at the coal resources being used globally for power generation, Pakistan's Energy Mix reflects negligible use of Coal despite our huge possession of such deposits. But this realisation has now dawned on us and one of its manifestations is organising such an event, which would provide a networking place for coal/energy investors locally and internationally.
To boost the confidence of investors, one window facility in the shape of Thar Coal & Energy Board has been provided. The establishment of Thar Coal & Energy Board representing the federal & provincial governments shows that both the governments are jointly working to achieve the common goal of developing Thar Coal. Federal Government will continue to extend every possible assistance in letter and spirit.
With ever burgeoning population and ever increasing demand of the electricity we can not rely on available resources of the energy. Coal presents to us a unique and golden opportunity to exploit it for our energy needs. Thar region which today portrays a backward picture could become a hub of energy production which would ultimately transform the socio economic life of the masses of the region. I commend the relentless efforts of the concerned departments and agencies for highlighting such a crucial topic of the energy in the context of the presence circumstances.
