Taking serious notice of deaths of several persons in a locality of Chanesar Goth here due to consumption of poisonous liquor, Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla has instructed the Director General Excise, Sindh, and Director Excise Karachi to take stern action against culprits involved in it.
He said investigation from the accused were underway and a committee, headed by Director Excise and Taxation and Director Excise Karachi has also been constituted to probe the matter, would submit report within three days, said a statement on Friday. He further said that in a several raids Excise Police officials had arrested accused from different areas of the city and registered cases under CNS Act-1991.
The statement said that Excise Police arrested Nasir Khan son of Badshah Khan and recovered 120 bottles of 'Cuppies' (local liquor), from Chanesar Goth. Accused Boota son of Ghulam Rasool was arrested on having 20 litres of liquor from District Central. Another accused identified as Heera son of Shoukat was arrested along with 40 bottles of liquor in District South. Abdullah Jan son Taliza Khan was arrested and 200 litres of poisonous liquor were recovered in District West while Shahid son of Jalil Ahmed was also arrested and 140 bottles of liquor were recovered from him in District East.
