Move to increase power tariff criticised

Chairman Law and Order Standing Committee of Korangi Association of Trader and Industry (Kati), Nadim Khan Sunday criticised the proposed move to increase power tariff by four percent and questioned when the government does not have electricity, why is it allowing increase in the power tariff frequently.
He said that the industrial sector is under extreme pressure and the frequent raises in power and gas tariff have almost broken the backbone of the industries.
He called upon the government to reduce gas and power tariffs so that the industrial wheel keeps rolling. He welcomed State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) decision to reduce interest rate by 150 basis points to 12 percent for two months.
