Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Geelani has appealed the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir to observe complete shutdown and stage peaceful protests on 27th October. It was on this day in 1947 when India illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the aspirations of Kashmir people.
Syed Ali Geelani, in a statement in Occupied Srinagar, termed 27th October as the blackest day in the history of Kashmir, said that the Kashmiris would never accept Indian occupation and their peaceful struggle would continue till its logical end, KMS reported. He said the objective of the observance of shutdown and holding peaceful protests is to draw world's attention towards the war crimes being committed by Indian police and troops in Kashmir.
He said that Kashmir was an independent and sovereign state but India enslaved millions of people against their will when it illegally landed its troops in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. "There is no legal or moral justification to this occupation and India is holding onto Kashmir only by the dent of its military might, as a result of which some 13 million people are living a life full of pain and sufferings," he added. The veteran leader maintained that Kashmiris have been struggling for their freedom, but for the past six decades, India, despite its tall claims of being the world's largest democracy, has been using brute force to crush the liberation struggle.
