The Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC-1) would decide the fate of case against the three-doctors of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital of Karachi in next meeting, reliable sources told Business Recorder. Former Chairman Anti-corruption Establishment Ramzan Channa has rejected the report of former Director ACE Karachi Ganhwar Laghari regarding the case against Senior doctors of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi and directed to put the case in ACC-1 for final decision.
The ACC-1 is running under the chairmanship of Sindh's Chief Secretary, while the Chairman ACE and two representatives of Home department and Board of Revenue are the members of it. The said committee has the mandate to take final decisions regarding the cases tabled in the committee. After completion of investigation report, Chairman ACE himself or on the recommendation of concerned officer can place the cases against officers of grade 17 and above before the ACC-1, sources said.
The letter of Director ACE Karachi to Chairman ACE available to Business Recorder stated: concerned officer ACE has received the application of Zia-ul-Umar resident of Karachi, in which applicant has alleged that Abdul Hamid father of Injured Nida w/o Wasim Ahmed brother of applicant in collusion with Dr Zakia Khurshid Lady MLO Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Karachi got registered FIR 254/2004 u/s 337 (A) (i) 337 (ii) PPC at PS North Nazimbad Karachi on the basis of bogus medical certificate ML-3499/04 issued by Dr Zakia Khurshid Lady MLO against his brother Wasim Ahmed, my mother and two sisters both were arrested.
On the application of Wasim Ahmed the medical board was constituted by the Secretary Health, in which injured Nida w/o Wasim Ahmed and Dr Zakia Khurshid deliberately did not appear before the board meanwhile, the medical board abeyance the certificate issued by Dr Zakia Khurshid, letter mentioned.
Inspector ACE Rashid Hussain has recommended the matter to be placed before ACC-1 seeking approval to register case against Dr Ashfaque Radiologist department and to close the matter against Dr Zakia Khurshid and Dr Qamar Aziz Assistant Professor Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, letter further stated. Keeping in view above circumstances the recommendation of concerned officer may be accorded, letter concluded.
The former Chairman ACE Ramzan Channa has sought comments of Director Legal and after the comments of Director Legal, the ex-chairman has rejected the recommendation of concerned officer and directed for placing the matter before the ACC-1 for final action, sources further said. The concerned wing of ACE added the case in the list of cases of ACC-1 and it will be discussed in the coming meeting of ACC-1 which would be held very soon, sources added.
