Youth burned in police custody dies

Muhammad Azeem, 18, who was burnt seriously in police custody six days ago, succumbed to his burn injuries in Allied Hospital here Friday morning. Three policemen have been arrested following the incident and investigation into the case is in progress. According to police report, Muhammad Azeem of Chak 7JB was arrested in motorcycle lifting case and two bikes were recovered from his possession.
During investigation, Azeem burnt himself seriously and was shifted to hospital where he died after fighting for his life for six days. Police claimed that it is a suicide incident, but Azeem's parents have alleged that policemen sprinkled oil on their son and set him ablaze owing to a pre-planned programme with his rivals.
