A petition against cancellation of old designed currency notes of Rs 500 has been filed before the Lahore High Court. The petitioner Shahanshah Shamil Paracha prayed to the court to declare the action of the respondent as illegal and unconstitutional.
Petitioner, through his counsel Muhammad Azhar Siddique, submitted that many people have large amount of money in shape of Rs 500 currency notes and they could not face exchange the same which they earned with hard work. He said it is the duty of the state to send its representatives at doorstep of the citizens to facilitate them, but in vain. The petitioner prayed to the court to direct the State Bank of Pakistan to extend the date of exchange the old notes of Rs 500.
