The capital police arrested an alleged terrorist, having connection with notorious terror gang, from the heart of the federal capital and also recovered four hand grenades from his possession. Qari Anayat, wanted to Islamabad police in two different cases, was held from Sector G-6/1 in a joint operation by the City Zone Police and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) wing of Islamabad police and recovered four hand grenades from his possession.
According to Islamabad Police, Qari Anayat was wanted in case No 332 registered on August 26, 2011 at Aabpara police station and in case No 89 registered with Secretariat police station on June 12, 2011. Police sources said that Qari Anayat was arrested on the information given by another terrorist already in custody namely Sardar Ali Khattak who was allegedly involved in various terror activities in Islamabad and arrested a few days earlier by Secretariat police from `Loi Dandi' area.
The sources further said that police had also recovered a suicide jacket and other explosives from the possession of Khattak, who was a Naib Qasid in Finance Division, had allegedly planned to target a high profile government installation in the capital city.
Police sources further claimed that Qari Anayat along with Kattak involved in providing suicide jackets to his associates in Islamabad. Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Muhammad Yusuf Malik have appreciated the performance of those policemen who arrested the terrorist and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for them. IGP Bani Amin said that Islamabad police was committed to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and every possible effort would be made to accomplish the task.
