DG Rangers among four majors-general promoted

Pakistan Army has given approval of promotion of four Major Generals to Lieutenant Generals. The promotions cases were approved in Army Selection Board meeting, presided over by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Pervaz Ashraf Kayani on Tuesday.
Those who were elevated to next ranks include Director General Pak Rangers Major General Ijaz Chaudhry, Major General Nasir Janjua, Major Gneral Tariq Gilani and Major General Naveed Zaman.
It has been learnt that Major General Dr Shahida Badshah, a top officer in the Pakistan army, was also in the race to become the country's first woman three-star general, Badshah is currently posted at Army Medical College. It has been reported that her promotion may be considered when Surgeon General Lieutenant General Rehan Burney will retire in November 2011.
