Turkey and Pakistan are working in unison to bring peace and stability to the war-torn Afghanistan for which a trilateral forum of the three countries has been constituted to end the decades-old war, which has marred its economy and displaced millions of Afghans who forced to leave their homeland.
Turkey is working hard and doing it utmost to normalise Pak-Afghan ties, as Pakistan has made matchless sacrifices for their brethren in Afghanistan.
This was stated by a Turkish Scholar and Academician Dr Turkkaya Ataov from Ankara University, while delivering a lecture on Pakistan-Turkish relations organised by the Institute of Strategic Studies here on Tuesday, adding that Muslims of the subcontinent fought side by side the Turks during Khalafat Movement.
He said in Ankara a road has been named after Quaid-e-Azam Muahmmad Ali Jinnah, which reflects the deep-rooted ties between the two countries, adding that the poetry of Allam Muhammad Iqbal has been translated into Turkish language, which shows the love of Turkish people for Pakistan.
He said that though he was educated in American school, he was critics of American policies. He added the people treated him very well in US and they are very creative and supportive, however, the US government policies did not reflect the aspiration of general public.
"I have written a book titled 'Truth About Armenia' as the history portrays that 1,20000 Armenian were slaughtered by Turks, but on the contrary skulls of the Armenian shown on the titled base was a heap of stones as the area from where these photographs were taken as same type of topography," he added.
Another aspect of American policy can be judged from the Spanish-American War of 1898 when the Spanish Empire was dying and sough US support, but contrary to this the US occupied the area, Dr Turkkaya maintained.
"Muslim built a great in Spain, but Catholic Spanish did horrible things with the then Muslim rulers of Spain who gave them a wonder and dynamic civilisation," Dr Turkkaya observed. He appreciated the role of Kamal Attaturk who laid down the foundation of modern Turkey, adding that Attaturk was right in rejecting the US mandate.
