Nisar decides to quit PAC chairmanship

Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has taken on board his party's leadership on his resignation from the chairmanship of the powerful parliamentary watchdog on the public accounts, it was learnt.
Informed sources told Business Recorder that finally Chaudhry Nisar successfully persuaded his party's leadership to quit as head of the PAC as he raised serious reservations on the appointment of Akhtar Buland Rana as Auditor General of Pakistan.
The party sources said that Nisar would formally announce his resignation at a press conference in the next few days. Earlier, the party leadership was divided on the decision taken by Nisar to resign as head of the PAC as party's chief Nawaz Sharif was not in favour of such extreme step while Shahbaz Sharif was found supporting the stance adopted by the leader of the opposition.
Nisar had expressed reservations on the appointment of allegedly a 'blue-eyed' AGP of the government at juncture when the PAC is to take up the record of first year accounts of the present government. He had also dissolved all special and sub committees of the PAC in protest over the appointment of Rana as AGP. He had also disassociated himself from the affairs of the PAC.
