Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar on Monday informed the National Assembly that Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) registered 240,096 cases of power pilferage since April 2008. In a written reply to a question, he informed the house that detection bills worth Rs 4,583 million were processed to recover the loss of energy besides immediate disconnection of electricity and action against the officers of the areas.
To another question, the house was informed that there was no proposal under consideration for advancing the clock by one hour during the year 2010-11. Responding to a query, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Shah informed the National Assembly in a written reply on Monday that there are 12,903 registered seminaries in Punjab, 3,344 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,968 in Balochistan, 138 in Islamabad Capital Territory and three in Gilgit Baltistan.
He further informed the House that a sum of rupees 296.723 million Zakat fund was allocated to the provinces and released, adding that Rs 163.381 million was allocated to Punjab, Rs 67.548 million to Sindh, 39.378 million to KPK, Rs 14.566 to Balochistan, Rs 7.035 million to Fata, Rs 1.872 million to ICT and Rs 2.943 million to Gilgit Baltistan. Responding to another question, he said that a contingent of 230 Khuddam-ul-Hujjaj would be sent to Saudi Arabia during Hajj 2011 for rendering welfare services to the Hujjaj.
