Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif taking serious notice of receiving huge amounts from the dengue virus patients in private hospitals, has directed to constitute a special committee which will hold talks to administration of these hospitals and Punjab government in the light of these dialogues will announce a policy with regard to provision of medical facilities to the dengue patients in private hospitals on Sunday.
He said that all institutions would have to fulfil their national responsibilities in this hour of trial and play their role for protecting the common man and poor people from dengue virus. He directed to immediately recruit work charge employees for spray and fogging in the provincial metropolis and said that hardworking and dutiful persons should be recruited for this purpose and this process should be completely free from political interference. Chief Minister directed to immediately import "foggers".
He was presiding over a meeting to review the ongoing campaign for eradication of dengue virus, here Saturday. Members National and Provincial Assemblies, Secretaries of Health, Local Government, Education, Information, Commissioner and District Co-ordination Officer Lahore, experts, senior doctors, principals of medical colleges and officers concerned were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that all resources are being utilised for protecting the people and eliminating dengue virus throughout the province and a co-ordinated strategy has been evolved in this regard.
He said that the process of spray is continuing speedily and provision of best medical facilities to the patients in the hospitals is also being ensured. He said that additional machines are being provided on emergent basis to those hospitals where there is shortage of the machines so that patients should not face inconvenience of waiting. He said that the co-operation of the people for elimination of dengue virus is of utmost importance and all segments of the society are being included in the movement against dengue virus.
He said that seminars are being organised for creating awareness among the people and after a big seminar at Al-Hamra, similar seminars would be held in all towns. He said that special funds have been released to towns for creating awareness about adopting preventive measures for saving the people from dengue virus.
