Message from UN Resident Co-ordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Pakistan

It is a great privilege for UNDP to sponsor the second SAARC Conference of Election Management Bodies being hosted by Election Commission of Pakistan. SAARC level co-operation between election management bodies of member states significantly contributes to achieving strong and sustainable democratic systems in South Asia through sharing of knowledge, exchange of ideas, open dialogue, and frequent interaction.
"I commend the Election Commission of Pakistan for organising this august forum. It is pertinent to note that following the enactment of the 18th Amendment, the Election Commission of Pakistan has been strengthened as an independent, credible and representative institution with broad political consensus. I look forward to the UN and the Election Commission of Pakistan deepening their engagement and partnership to meet the high expectations that the people of Pakistan have for the electoral process in the country."
