Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has alerted the citizens against rain-related hazards and risks in the backdrop of the forecast of further heavy downpour. The general public has been advised to keep away from fallen, broken, unsafe and wet wires, poles and equipment and report any unusual incident immediately to nearest KESC office.
The KESC said that unfortunately sonic people were still putting their life at stake by attempting electricity theft through illegal hooks during rains, hardly realising the fatal risk involved.
KESC advised such power users to refrain from stealing electricity in general, and during rains in particular, in their own best interest. Referring to emergency arrangements to cope with the rain-related hazards. KESC said that in view of increased workload, all the service and maintenance offices would be keeping close vigil over the distribution network, especially during nights. Safety teams would also enhance night-time inspection visits. KESC asked the citizens to contact 118 or nearest utility office in case of any issues and strictly avoid handling risky wires and equipment on their own or through privately hired electricians.-PR
