On the glorious occasion of the Defence Day of Pakistan, I would like to share my feelings of pride and satisfaction with all countrymen and women. It was on this historic day when the entire Pakistani nation rose like one in the noble cause of national defence.
The defence day of Pakistan refreshes memories of the great heroes and martyrs of '65 war in our hearts, who resolutely and successfully countered an adversary that enjoyed a numerical and technological advantage. Pakistan Air Force has always jealously guarded the air frontiers of Pakistan. However, in the 1965 war, it earned the distinction of creating a saga of matchless heroism a never-ending source of pride for the nation.
The profound comradeship among the sister services, high level of professionalism, and the awe-inspiring patriotism of our warriors and the nation, thwarted the adversary's nefarious designs in an incredible manner. In the face of overwhelming odds, we learnt the meaning of self-respect and steadfastness, which made us emerge as a unified nation, personifying the principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline given to us by the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
On this day of great historic significance, we need to emulate the examples of our predecessors and rekindle the spirit of 1965 to unite and face the numerous challenges posed to the nation. I want to assure my countrymen that PAF will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the nation to uphold our freedom and honour.
