The Karachi Port handled 193,107 tonnes of cargo including 142,129 tonnes of import cargo, 50,978 tonnes of export cargo and 3,556 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 142,129 tonnes comprised of 78,305 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,508 tonnes of bulk cargo: 844 tonnes of wheat; 8,664 tonnes of fertiliser and 54,316 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 50,978 tonnes comprised of 39,378 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,339 tonnes of cement and 10,261 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Twelve ships namely APL Sharjah, Emirates Yangtze, Hyundai Discovery, APL Brisbane, Bunga Raya Lima, Salis, Tandis, CS Discovery, OEL Trust, Ocean Host, Morning Express and Gan Sure with nine container ships, coal carrier, naphtha ship and oil tanker sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eleven vessels viz CS Discovery, Tandis, YM Colombo, OEL Trust, APL Brisbane, MOL Success, Bux Melody, Gan Sure, DL Diamond, MT Lahore and Nizar-M carrying seven container ships, three oil tankers and wheat carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Bux Melody, YM Colombo and DL Diamond carrying two container ships and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Monday, while two ships namely Wan Hai-602 and MT Lahore carrying container ship and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Two vessels viz Wan Hai-602 and Hanjin Durban with two container ships due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz Cooper River Bridge, Ocean Friend, An Xin Jiang, Pacific Friend and Venus Triumph carrying container ship, coal carrier, two general cargo ships and heavy lift respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 47,318 tonnes includes 24,208 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,570 tonnes of urea; 11,272 tonnes of chemicals and 10,268 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 21,420 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two container ships namely CV Maersk Kentucky and CV MN Henry sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while two more ships namely MT Quetta and MT Sichem Pace carrying furnace oil and chemicals are expected to sail on Monday afternoon. A total number of eight vessels CV Maersk Kentucky, CV MN Henry, CV MSC Aurelle, MV Sapphire-II, MV Loanthi, MV Tycon-II, MT Quetta and MT Sichem Pace are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, urea chemicals and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely New Challenge, Al-Salam-II, Agility, Mohammad Prince, Chemroar Quest and Kaethe-c-Rickmers carrying diesel oil, edible oil, cement and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two vessels viz CV Kaethe-c-Rickmers and MT Chemroar Quest carrying containers and edible oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
