Benazir Income Support Programme is the practical manifestation of the dreams of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarama Benzair Bhutto. This Programme is entirely apolitical, which is its distinct feature. In the first phase of the programme, forms were distributed to public representatives irrespective of their political affiliations and in the second phase poverty survey was carried out throughout the country.
Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs expressed these views while speaking as chief guest at the ceremony held here to distribute cheques amongst Waseela-e-Haq beneficiaries under BISP, says a press release received from Sukkur.
Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that Waseela-e-Haq scheme is providing poor families with an opportunity to achieve financial self-sustainability. He expressed his hope that the recipients of interest-free financial assistance would be able to launch and pursue their businesses successfully. He said that BISP has been declared as a most transparent programme in the social sector by the various prestigious institutions of the world. He also said that the present democratic government would complete its term of five years.
Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that BISP is the largest and most successful programme in the social sector in South Asia and after the completion of ongoing poverty survey in Sindh, the number of beneficiary families of BISP would rise up to 3 million. Benazir Smart Card being implemented all over the country for disbursement of BISP cash grants to beneficiaries.-PR
