Nadra issues 22,000 CNICs with lifetime validity for senior citizens

As many as 7.4 million senior citizens have been exempted from renewal of computerised identity cards, as they have reached the age of 65. Under the policy of the government the senior citizens ageing 65 and above are exempted from renewal of ID cards and their current CNICs have been declared valid for lifetime, an official of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) said.
He said that an applicant gets CNIC renewed after the age of 56 is declared valid for lifetime, which would be mentioned on CNIC and he/she would not have to renew it again. So far Nadra has issued 22000 CNICs printed with lifetime validity for senior citizens. He said the people whose age is 65 or more do not need to visit Nadra centers to obtain a 'lifetime valid' CNIC, even if expiry date mentioned on their CNIC has already passed.
