District Co-ordination Officer Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed expressing dissatisfaction over the cleanliness conditions in the city has directed town administrators to improve it. Addressing a meeting of the 18 town administrators at Civic Center's Committee Room he directed town administrators to improve cleanliness conditions in the city, as it was their responsibility.
The meeting was also attended by EDO Municipal Services Masood Alam, EDO Works & Services Altaf G. Memon and other officers of the city government. The DCO said the garbage disposal was not being carried out properly as a result it is being piled up on roadsides. He also directed them to carry out cleaning and garbage lifting work round-the-clock in three shifts and clear it before Eid-ul-Fitr positively.
He said that he himself along with Administrator Karachi Fazlur Rehman would visit the city shortly and action to be taken against the town administrators if they found cleanliness condition unsatisfactory. The DCO also directed town administrators to ensure cleanliness at all Eid prayer grounds (Eidgahs) and also remove the garbage containers around them. He instructed them to acquire the machinery from city government's machinery department for lifting and disposal of garbage from the town limits.
Town administrators gave briefing about cleanliness work carried out within their remits. Shah Faisal Town administrator informed the meeting about the cleaning of Chakor Nullah and removal of garbage from various areas including Star Gate. Gadap Town Administrator said that they would seek help from the City Government's Machinery Department for removal of garbage and waste lying around Yousuf Goth and Maymarabad.
During the meeting DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed directed Gulshan Town Administrator to remove the garbage and waste from near old vegetable market, Safoora Goth and near NIPA. He also advised Korangi Town Administration to stop illegal dumping of garbage and waste in the town limits by some vehicles and hand over them to police. The SITE Town Administrator informed the meeting that the Eid Prayer's venues would be cleaned before 29th of Ramazan. The DCO said that no area in city should be overlooked.
