A big terror attack was averted here Friday when Islamabad Police and LEAs arrested a hardcore terrorist along with suicide vests, explosives, weapons and foreign currency in the wee hours Friday, police sources told this scribe. The terrorist and his associates had planned to strike different places in Federal Capital in the functions in connection with Yaum al Quds, police sources said.
Responding to information given by the detained terrorist, LEAs raided a house in G-6 Sector of Islamabad, where four more suspects were held, they said. The detained terrorists were shifted to unknown place for investigation and more disclosures are expected from these persons, police sources said, adding that an alleged terrorist identified as Ali managed to escape from the scene.
They said the area was cordoned off and a general holdup was announced in the Capital to trace the escaped terrorist. The detained terrorist during preliminary investigation helped LEAs arrest his two accomplices from the same area, police sources said.
