Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said creation of new provinces will strengthen the federation. The minister further said that the government has started dialogue on the demand of creation of Seraiki province.
She was talking to reporters before addressing a seminar on 'Pakistan, Media and National Interest' organised by Department of Mass Communication of Superior University at a local hotel. She said that Punjab is the biggest province; hence, it is difficult to run the administration of such a big province while creation of new provinces will remove the sense of deprivation prevailing among the people of particular areas.
When asked about creation of new provinces in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, she said, if the elected representatives and people of that areas raised question they would not ignore their demand. Regarding the resolution tabled by PML-Q and stand of PML-N over it, she said, "If the PML-N puts the resolution in the dustbin, people would also throw them out of power because creation of new provinces is the demand of the people."
To another query, she said the PPP government respects the judiciary and will implement the decision of the court. Answering a question about possibility of rejoining the PPP government by MQM, she said that consultation is going on between the two political parties in this regard.
