Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) staged walkout from the National Assembly on Friday in protest against the recent incidents of violence in Karachi. While speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, Sajid Ahmed accused that a Lyari based gang supervised by Senior Provincial Minister Zulfiqar Mirza was involved in the incidents of firing in Malir.
He said that terrorists had once again targeted Malir, killing seven innocent people. He demanded of the federal and provincial governments to take notice of the Malir incident.
After Sajid Ahmed's statement, the MNAs of MQM staged walkout from the National Assembly, which were joined by the members of PML-N.
Earlier, Dr Abdul Kadir Khanzada of MQM said that hundreds of innocent people had been killed during the recent incidents of violence in Karachi.
While responding to the point of order, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that violence in Karachi would not be tolerated.
The Prime Minister assured the House that the government would maintain peace in Karachi urging all political leadership to come up with solution to improve situation in the mega city. He said that peace in Karachi was needed for political and economic stability and the country could not afford any instability in the city.
The Prime Minister condemned the killing of people in Malir-Landhi and sought report from the provincial government. He said that the findings of the report would be presented before the House. After prorogation of the session, Haider Abbas Rizvi while speaking to media persons outside the Parliament said that some people wanted to destabilise Karachi so that Pakistan could be destabilised. "Unfortunately some ministers are involved in destabilising the situation in Karachi, and this should be probed," he accused.
