Equities moved both ways at the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) on Wednesday and settled in positive column amid ascending transaction volume. The LSE-25 index moved up to 3101.54 points against 3086.46 points of Tuesday, showing a gain of 15.08 points, while transaction volume increased to 2.230 million shares as compared to 2.134 million shares.
According to brokers, the market opened on a negative note in the absence of any positive news on political and economic fronts. However, investors took positions later on that led the market closure in positive column. FFC, Pak Oilfields, Attock Refinery, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Engro Corp, PSO, Flying Cement, Lucky Cement and PIA registered gains.
Thal, MCB Bank, Millat Tractors, PTCL, Nishat Mills, Nishat Chunian, Pervez Ahmed Securities, Lotte Pakistan, Askari Bank and Arif Habib Corporation Bank suffered losses. The gainers were just ahead with the losers, as out of 107 companies, 25 closed in green zone and 20 suffered losses, while 62 companies stayed unchanged.
FFC gained Rs 2.95, Pak Oilfields improved by Rs 2.00, and Attock Refinery appreciated by Rs 1.11, while Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, Engro Corporation, PSO, Flying Cement, Lucky Cement and PIA were up by Rs 1.04, Rs 0.75, Rs 0.50, Rs 0.46, Rs 0.40 and Rs 0.36, respectively. Thal shed Rs 1.16, MCB Bank declined by Rs 0.66, and Millat Tractors lost Rs 0.50, while PTCL, Nishat Mills, Nishat Chunian, Pervez Ahmed Securities, Lotte Pakistan, Askari Bank and Arif Habib Corp Bank were down by Rs 0.32, Rs 0.28, Rs 0.25, Rs 0.22, Rs 0.20, Rs 0.18 and Rs 0.16, respectively.
