The Karachi Port handled 116,046 tonnes of cargo including 85,387 tonnes of import cargo, 30,659 tonnes of export cargo and 4,212 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 85,387 tonnes comprised of 28,269 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,614 tonnes of general cargo; 10,411 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,593 tonnes of DAP; 1,720 tonnes of rock phosphate; 2,098 tonnes of chickpeas and 42,093 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,659 tonnes comprised of 10,513 tonnes of containerised cargo; 191 tonnes of general cargo; 5,833 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,102 tonnes of cement; 4,731 tonnes of wheat and 14,122 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely MT Quetta, Alpine Amalia, Neelam Bari, Usma and Antje Wulff carrying four oil tankers and container ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Eight vessels viz MT Karachi, Neelam Bari, Sunrise Wisteria, YM Asia, APL Coral, Bunga Raya Lapan, Green Line and Vergina carrying three oil tankers, three container ships, bulk cargo ship and general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely APL Coral, Bunga Raya Lapan and Vergina carrying two container ships and general cargo ship expected to sail on Wednesday, while five ships namely Sunrise Wisteria, MT Karachi, Glen Canyon Bridge, YM Asia and Cleantec with two oil tankers, two container ships and DAP carrier respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
Four vessels viz Primo Stealth, HS Challanger, Lahore Express and Gladiolus carrying LSFO, two container ships and steel coils carrier respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz MSC Anafi, CSL Ride, Abtin-1 and Nizar-M carrying three container ships and wheat carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
Four ships namely CV Najran, Maersk Kalamata, UASC Dammam and MT Sea Lion sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Pago and Chemroad Fuji will sail out to sea on the same day. A total number of nine vessels CV Najran, Maersk Kalamata, UASC Dammam, CV Pago Diamond Falcon, MV Topaz-II, MT Golden Ambrosia, MT Sea Lion and Chemroad Fuji are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Seven ships namely Kathe Rickmers, Magali, ACX Margurite, CGM Pucani, Al-Soor-II, Al-Kuwaitiah and Olympic Sponsor carrying containers, diesel oil and furnace oil are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of six vessels viz CV Kathe Rickmers, CV ACX Margurite, CV Magali, CV CGM Pucani, MT Olympic Sponsor and MT Chemroad Fuji scheduled to load/offload containers, furnace oil and edible oil are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal, FOTCO Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
