Ghee, atta and sugar: government urged to curb rise in prices before Ramazan
Lahore Karyana & General Merchants Association here in a meeting on Sunday has implored upon the government to curb rise in prices of ghee, atta, sugar and other items before Ramazan. Rao Muhammad Akram chairing the meeting of the association of Al-Khidamat group asked the government not to arrest small shop keepers and penalise in this connection.
He said this rising trend of prices and increase of inflation is because of wrong policies of the government and arrests and penalties imposed upon small shopkeepers are not justified.
Elaborating this, he said atta was available in whole sale market at Rs 550 while it was fixed in retail at Rs 530 per 20-kg bag. Further he said sugar is available at Rs 69 per kilo in whole sale while in retail it is fixed at Rs 68 per kilo. Akram pointed out that price of rice per kilo is Rs 75/80 in whole sale market while it is fixed at Rs 72 per kilo in retail.
