The 31mm of rains coupled with thunderstorm measuring 37 nautical miles lashed the city providing respite to the people from humid weather. Most of the low lying areas at Davis road, Laxmi chowk, GT road, Nisbat road, Lawrence road, cooper road, The Mall, Barkat market, Dubban pura, Kachhu Pura, Ghorey Shah, Badami Bagh, Ravi road, Krishan Nagar, Rehmanpura, P&D colony, Qila Lakshman Singh were inundated and presented a scene of rivulets.
The vehicular traffic was also observed disturbed at various city roads. The rain started at 1:15 pm turning the weather pleasant prompting people to throng in parks, zoo and other recreational spots for picnic. On Sunday, Lahore city received 31 mm of rain, Faisalabad 17 mm, Jhang 62 mm, Risalpur 36 mm, Sargodha 35 mm, Okara 29 mm, Garhi Dupatta 16 mm, Kakul 14 mm, Lower Dir 9 mm, Upper Dir 7 mm, TT Singh 6 mm, Murree 5 mm, Sahiwal 4 mm and Mandi Bahauddin 3 mm.
Meanwhile, a women and two baby girls were killed and two other injured when the roof of a dilapidated house caved in at Taqipura Chaapa near Jalo Pind here on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Parveen (70) her grand daughters- Umme Aiman (two and a half years) and Umme Habiba (6-month). The injured were identified as Fazeelat Bibi and Misbah Nadeem. In another incident, Shahzad (70), his wife Nasrin (60) and son Goga sustained injuries when a dilapidated house collapsed in Misri Shah Chowk due to rain and thunderstorm. Meanwhile, six people were wounded in rain related incidents in Canal View, Johar Town, Peco road, Hanjarwal.
