Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that political freedom was impossible without economic independence. He was addressing 'Pakistan Paindabad Conference' arranged by Nazaria Pakistan Trust at Alhamra Hall here on Saturday.
Chairman Nazaria Pakistan Trust Majid Nizami, PML-N leaders Ghaus Ali Shah, Begum Majida Wyne, Qazi Hussain Ahmad, Senator Professor Sajid Mir, intellectuals, columnists, and a large number of people belonging to different walks of life attended the function.
"Today the whole nation would have to prove a rock and if we did not respond to this threat of the outsiders with the same coin, there would be no one to remember us in the history," he added. "Time has come to decide whether we should accept the death with honour or live in humiliation. Those nations begging charity and taking loans never become prosperous. We have to change our destiny by relying on our own resources and no one would come to help us in this regard," he added.
He said that Punjab government in consultation with Quaid Pakistan Muslim League-N Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the party had taken a historical decision of not accepting foreign aid against national sovereignty and country's honour and this decision would be a first step towards achieving the goal of national independence.
He said that we can die but would never accept such charity and aid of outsiders as is The chief minister said today Pakistan was passing through a very critical juncture of its history. After fall of Dhaka, Pakistanis hardly have to face such discouraging and heartrending situations, he added. He said that Nazaria Pakistan Trust tried to give a message of hope and confidence to the nation by holding 'Pakistan Paindabad Conference' in the present disappointing situation at national level.
