RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Wednesday issued notices to five Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan suspects who had been acquitted by the Anti Terrorists Court(ATC) in Benazir Bhutto murder case.

According to details, PPP had filed three different appeals in LHC against the verdict of Anti Terrorist court announced on August 31.

In the first appeal, filed by Barrister Latif Khosa asked the court to announce a punishment for former president Pervez Musharraf in accordance with the criminal code.

In the second appeal, the court had been called upon to change the sentence given to the police officers involved in the case.

The appeal points out that punishment for murder in the law is death sentence and therefore, the police officers should be given the same.

The third appeal had asked the court to award death sentence to the five Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan suspects who had been acquitted by the ATC.

Justice Muzahir Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Tariq Abassi after hearing the arguments of PPP counsel Latif Khosa issued notices to TTP suspects Rafaqat Hussain, Husnain Gul, Sher Zaman, Aitzaz Shah and Abdul Rashid to appear before the court on February 12.

The two time former prime minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a suicide attack on December 27, 2007 after addressing a public meeting at Liaquat Bagh.
