Director General Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Punjab Shahid Aslam Mohar has said that poverty survey has been completed in Lahore as well as in some other Districts. He said the survey process would be completed in Punjab as well as in the other provinces by the end of this June. This is the very first poverty survey in Pakistan for the judgement of the poverty level.
BISP was started for the welfare of the poor people and the basic theme of this programme is to eradicate poverty from the country and women empowerment. According to him, some 4 million families are getting benefits from BISP and after the completion of poverty survey more families will be entered transparently in the social safety net of BISP.
DG Punjab Shahid Aslam Mohar said that, in Waseela-e-Haq Programme the soft and interest free loan of Rs 300,000 are given to the eligible and poor families after computerised draw to enable them to their own businesses and put their efforts for the development of country.
