British bank Barclays has made a provision for almost all of the net $1 billion it has been told to pay Lehman Brothers' bankruptcy trustee while it appeals against the order in a long-running row. Barclays said it would appeal against aspects of the ruling made by a New York court late on Monday and no money or assets will move prior to the appeals process.
The British bank's purchase of the US operations of Lehman Brothers in late 2008 was ruled fair by the court in February, throwing out the trustee's $11 billion claim. But a dispute has continued over some of the assets in the complex deal.
