The wholesale commodities markets fluctuated both ways, wheat, gur and juwar leading, as global trend too was likewise during the week ended on May 28, 2011.
On the very opening day grain market showed firmer trend. On the rice side Irri-6 Sindh low type rose by Rs 70 to Rs 3600, while better type gained Rs 50 to Rs 3650, Basmati 386 scaled up by Rs 100 to Rs 5400 and Rs 5500, barley Sindh and Mardan rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2550, wheat old and new with bardana gaining Rs 25 to Rs 2450 and Rs 2465, gur low type shed Rs 500 to Rs 6500 and Rs 7500. On the seed side, cottonseed oilcakes with bag low type were sharply up by Rs 50 to Rs 1250, while good type rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1380.
On Jodia Bazaar tea from Kenya (per kg) PF-1 A grade ended higher by Rs 10 to Rs 440, B grade lost Rs 50 to Rs 415 and plus C grade shed Rs 5 to Rs 395, D-1 A grade lost Rs 10 to Rs 440, B grade rose by Rs 10 to Rs 420, plus C grade rose by Rs 50 to Rs 390 and C grade quoted of Rs 275, Dust A grade rose by Rs 10 to Rs 350, B grade rose by Rs 15 to Rs 290, and plus C grade conceded Rs 50 to Rs 250.
On Tuesday minor changes were marked as Irri 6 Sindh low type was unchanged at Rs 3600, while the other quality was down Rs 25 to Rs 3625, cottonseed oilcake with bag in Sindh low quality rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1300, while the other type lost Rs 10 to Rs 1370.
On Wednesday wheat old with bardana new rose by Rs 10 to Rs 2460 and Rs 24275 Guwar Sindh down by Rs 200 to Rs 5200 and Rs 5100, guwar Punjab recorded same trend, guar gained Rs 100 afresh to Rs 6600 and Rs 7600, Khandsari rose by Rs 200 to Rs 7600, cottonseed oilcake Sindh with beg rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1390, while better type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1400, til low type was quoted at Rs 3400, while better quality was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 3800.
On Jodia Bazaar skimmed milk powder (per 254 kgs) Irish skimmed quoted at Rs 8500, Haleeb SMP quoted at Rs 6500, Holland scaled higher by Rs 600 to Rs 9200 and Amul India rose by Rs 800 to Rs 9900, Vegetable Euro Gold up Rs 200 to Rs 9400, Balic Gold gained Rs 200 to Rs 9400.
On Thursday wholesale markets reported closed on account of thr drath anniversary of Hazrat Abu-Bakar Siddique (RA).
On Friday not a single change was seen on the Karachi wholesale grain and seed markets, as almost all the participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.
On Jodia Bazaar jute goods twine closed down. The changes were: JUTE GOODS TWINE (Per kg): 20x3 Brown finished lower by Rs 10 to Rs 100, 16x3 CRT/Indus edged down by Rs 10 to Rs 100, 8x3 moved downward by Rs 10 to Rs 160 and 40x2 Brown went lower by Rs 10 to Rs 95. HESSIAN CLOTH (Per 91.44 meter): 45x10 Amin finished down by Rs 200 to Rs 3,200, 45x11 was quoted at Rs 3,300, 50x9 Thul ended lower by Rs 200 to Rs 3000, 45x9 moved downward by Rs 200 to Rs 3000, 50x8 Thul went lower by Rs 250 to Rs 2,750 and 45x8 was quoted at Rs 2,750.
On Saturday thin trading was seen on as prices tended higher mostly. Wheat bardan old and new were up by Rs 40 to Rs 2500 and Rs 2515.Bajra low type was higher by Rs 100 to Rs 2800, while the best quality maintained overnight level at Rs 3000. Irri-6 Sindh low quality rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3625 and better type picked up by Rs 50 to Rs 3700.
On Jodia Bazaar plastic moulding compounds closed mixed. The changes were: PLASTIC MOULDING COMPOUNDS (Per lb): HDPE (FILM): Saudia 952 edged down by 50-paisa to Rs 72, Mobil went lower by Rs 3 to Rs 72 and TR144 moved downward by 10-paisa to Rs 72. HDPE (INJECTION): Sabic 200056 finished up by Re 1 to Rs 81, Mobil 016 was quoted at Rs 81 and Iran closed higher by Rs 1.50 to Rs 79. LLDPE: W118 went up by 25 paisa to Rs 73 and 7087 moved upward by 50-paisa to Rs 73. POLYPROPYLENE (FILM): Thai finished lower by Rs 6 to Rs 92, Kuwait closed down by Rs 6 to Rs 92 and India went downward by Rs 6 to Rs 92. POLYPROPYLENE (TAPE GRADE): India edged reached at Rs 87, Kuwait rose at Rs 87 and Saudia moved upward by 50-paisa to Rs 87. POLYSTYRENE: Pakistan was quoted at Rs 4,886. COPOLY: Block moved higher by Rs 2 to Rs 92 and Randon went lower by Re 1 to Rs 98. HIGH IMPACT (Per bag): Pakistani was quoted at Rs 5,602. ABS: Polylac 707 edged down by Rs 100 to Rs 7,100 and Iran closed lower by Rs 100 to Rs 7000.
