Nomad Art Gallery will hold press preview of an exhibition of paintings 'Silent Voices' by Mussarrat Nahid Imam here on Tuesday. The show will be open for public on May 31 and will continue till June 11 featuring the collection that focuses on mixed media blending memory of historical images. Her work is inspired by traces left behind by long forgotten civilisations.
Her work speaks of her encounters with many streams in our history images of once ascendant civilisations, now decaying and dissolving, are woven into the tapestries of her surface.
She chooses materials and mediums, which suggest the fragility of memory and the relentless march of time. Marks and patterns move back and forth in layers, evoking nostalgia from the past. The past, which is evasive and slips away from the attempts to define it or grasp its full significance. It remains eventually a beautiful cipher, which is enigmatic as it beckons and eludes simultaneously. The artist sifts through remnants: objects, icons and mysterious presence. They represent the finest of human endeavours of another time.
