Petition against US Ambassador: LHC issues notice to federal government
The Lahore High Court here Tuesday issued notice to federal government in a petition seeking to declare US ambassador in Pakistan as persona-non-grata and stop transit facilities to US till it did not apologies on Abbotabad operation. The court directed deputy attorney general to seek instructions from the federal government and appear on June 6.
Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffrey filed the petition and prayed to the court to direct the raise the matter to International Court of Justice (ICJ). The petitioner submitted that the US is bound to accept the jurisdiction of ICJ under a treaty of friendship agreed in 1959. He said the spineless policies of preceding Pakistani rulers including Mian Nawaz Sharif, Benazir Bhutto (late) and Pervez Musharraf gave courage to US to carry out operation in Abbotabad without any fear.
