Capital Police have busted two dacoit gangs and nabbed nine gangsters hailing from Afghanistan who were involved in dozens of incidents of dacoities in the city and also recovered looted items as well as weapons from their possession, said Naeem Iqbal, spokesman of Islamabad Police here on Tuesday.
Criminal Investigation Agency (Property Wing) of Islamabad Police following the directions from top bosses of the Federal Police launched a massive hunt against the criminals in which it succeeded in busting two gangs of dacoits of Afghan origin, the spokesman said.
He said that the IGP Islamabad Wajid Ali Durrani directed all police officials to leave no stone unturned to curb criminal activities in their respective areas. A special team was constituted by SP Investigation under the supervision of DSP Bashir Ahmed Noon, which succeeded to arrest five Afghan nationals Alam Zaib son of Nawab Khan, Taj Wali son of Farman Ali, Abdul Qahar son of Ali Rahman, Abdul Ghani son of Ali Rahman, Mohsan Khan son of Said Umar residents of Afghanistan.
Similarly, CIA Police also arrested another gang consisting of four dacoits red-handed from the area of Golrra Police when they were planning to commit dacoity in the area. People of the area informed the police about their presence after which CIA police raided and nabbed Ahmed Riaz son of Fazal Ahmed, Khair Wali son of Rahmat Ali, Asad Wali and Sher Wali residents of Afghanistan.
These nabbed persons have confessed their involvement in dacoities in the areas of Koral, Bhara Kahu, Sihala, Margalla, Shalimar, Sabzi Mandi Police stations of the Capital city and also in the jurisdictions of Taxila Police Station, the spokesman said, adding that they also admitted to barge in the houses of people and then used to loot the valuables from them at gun point.
Police recovered three pistols, Kalashnikov, mobile phones from them, besides other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees have been recovered from them, which would be distributed among the real owners. Police are further investigating from these nabbed dacoits and hopeful for more recovery from them. IGP Islamabad and DIG (Operations) have appreciated the performance of the CIA police teams and hoped for better performance on the basis of their hard work in future.
