Equities on Tuesday continued rising trend for the second consecutive day amid bullish sentiments on the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) mainly because of fresh buying in oil sector. The LSE-25 index was further increased by 24.54 points and was closed at 3229.60 points against 3205.06 points of Monday, while transaction volume was increased to 2.710 million shares, as compared to 1.267 million shares traded a day earlier.
The market commenced trading on a healthy sign and stayed in positive zone throughout the day. The investors stayed on buying course and made fresh entries in oil sector's shares including Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL, OGDC, PSO and Attock Refinery. Treet Corporation, Habib Bank, Engro Corporation, Lucky Cement, Dewan Salman Fibre, Byco Petroleum, Arif Habib Corporation, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim and Lotte Pakistan PTA also helped market sentiments.
However, Faysal Bank, NIB Bank, Pakistan Reinsurance, Lafarge Pakistan Cement and Flying Cement registered marginal declines. The gainers were considerably more than the losers, as out of a total of 117 active issues, 43 companies posted gains, 11 stayed in minus column, while values of 63 companies remained unchanged at their previous levels.
Pakistan Oil Fields was improved by Rs 2.76, PPL gained Rs 2.69, Treet Corporation was appreciated by Rs 2.66 while OGDC and PSO were up by Rs 2.60 and Rs 1.92, respectively. In the minus column, Shell Pakistan lost Rs 2.87, United Bank was declined by 73-paisa, while Flying Cement and Faysal Bank were depreciated by 49-paisa and 34-paisa, respectively. NIB Bank was the market leader whose 576,680 shares changed hands followed by Bank of Punjab with 402,993 shares.
