Heat wave to continue for next few days: Met office

The prevailing heat wave in the country would continue for the next few days, said the Pakistan Meteorological Department here on Thursday. According to the met office analysis, seasonal low lies over Balochistan and adjoining areas; however, a western disturbance likely to approach the country on Thursday night. Hence, very hot and dry weather is likely to persist in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Sindh, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
However, a few dust thunderstorm/rain is expected over Malakand and Hazara divisions, while isolated thunderstorm/rain is likely to occur over Gligit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Also, isolated dust thunderstorm/rain likely to occur over Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions, while mainly dry weather will occur over rest of the country.
Meanwhile, for the last few days the country has been under the grip of sever hot weather conditions and Thursday proven to another hot day. Noor Pur Thal was the hottest spot in the country where 49.5 Celsius degrees was recorded followed by Sibbi and Larkana 49 Celsius degrees. Other part of the country where maximum temperature was in the high 40s included Jacobabad 48.5, Dadu 48.4, Padidan and Nawabshah 48, Turbat, Moen-jo-Daro and Bhakkar 47.5, D.G.Khan, Sukkur, Rohri and Mianwali 46.5, Multan 46.2, and Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore 46 and Joharabad 46 Celsius degrees.
