China said that it will take various measures to help salvage Pakistan from economic difficulties as the south Asian country was facing challenges from fighting terrorism and extremism, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu here Thursday.
"As on counter terrorism, we believe that Pakistan has made a great contribution towards international counter terrorism efforts", Jiang said adding besides economic losses Pakistan has rendered great sacrifices as well. Calling upon the international community to support Pakistan government in its efforts to resort national stability and development in its economy, Jiang said that her government in its part 'will encourage the Chinese enterprises to expand investments in Pakistan and strengthen their co-operation in trade, finance and science and technology,
Jiang at the regular press briefing while responding to various questions reiterated her government's stance that the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan must be respected. She said that Prime Minister Gilani is at present visiting China and the leadership of both the countries has signed various co-operative agreements.
China, she further said was actively implanting its pledges with regard to post disasters reconstruction works in Pakistan. She pointed out that every effort is being made to address the sufferings of Pakistani people. Jiang said that Prime Minister Gilani would meet Jia Qinglin the Chairman of CPPCC this afternoon. This meeting will be followed by an event to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, she noted. On May 20, she said that Chinese President Hu Jintao will also meet Prime Minister Gilani.
