US Plains HRW wheat bids steady

Hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady on Tuesday as harvesting of the new crop continued to move northward through sparse, drought-hit fields. The Fort Worth Grain Exchange said it had analysed 46 new wheat samples from May 13-16 and found good test weight, averaging above 61 lbs per bushel and high protein averaging 13.4 percent. But the good quality is coming on light yields.
Updated crop condition reports issued Monday from state and national agriculture officials showed continued deterioration in the condition of the new winter wheat crop.
