Pakistan with the help of Interpol succeeded in arresting Roohullah Khan from Dubai, the main accused in the assassination of former attorney general and former judge of Peshawar High Court (PHC), Sardar Khan. Roohullah had escaped to Dubai via Afghanistan after killing the former PHC judge in Islamabad. He used fake and forged travel documents to visit Afghanistan and Dubai respectively with the help of his cousin, Fazal Ahmed, said Naeem Iqbal, a spokesman of Islamabad Police.
After his escape, he was declared proclaimed offender and his property and bank accounts were impounded, Naeem Iqbal said and added that later the Capital Police issued his red-warrants and approached the Interpol to ensure his arrest. Sardar Khan was murdered on February 3, 2010, in G-11/2 area of Islamabad in the jurisdiction of Shalimar Police Station. Roohullah is a known arms smuggler and has 16 arms and ammunition factories in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
He had fraudulently registered huge land of high value in his name and Sardar Khan was pursing a case against him. After the incident, Police managed to arrest an accused Safiullah along with his accomplices, who revealed that Roohullah, Waqif Khan, Rubina Suleman and Iftikhar Ahmed were involved in the murder of Sardar Khan. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court was informed that the main accused in the murder had been arrested in Dubai and would soon be brought back to the country. The apex court lauded Islamabad Police for arresting the criminal.
